About the Artist

Born in Beirut, in 1962, Dima Amin Youssef describes herself as a "mosaic," with each piece symbolizing a unique aspect of her life story. Her journey began at BUC, now known as LAU, where she focused on interior design and Fine Arts. This foundational education laid the groundwork for a career encompassing interior and set design, and later, education, where she sparked creativity in kindergarteners.

Dima spent a lot of time in her village Bechmizzine, where sustainability was ingrained in daily life. From a young age, she was inspired to weave these values into her artistic expression.

As a mother, she used to foster creativity in her children through a multitude of art projects, nurturing their imagination and curiosity. The passion she had for art shaped her into the teacher and mentor she is today.

In 2013, Dima returned to LAU to study fashion design, further expanding her artistic repertoire. Her work revolves around a broad exploration of materials and techniques. Her creations involve mixed media, integrating strings, found objects, metals, and fabrics, which she often weaves into complex, textured compositions. This exploration reflects the sustainable practices she witnessed in her youth, combined with functionality and storytelling.

Dima’s work transcends traditional boundaries by merging diverse elements in a way that highlights the power of everyday life in shaping art. Her approach weaves her experiences, beliefs, and passions into pieces that resonate with viewers.

Today, Dima’s art is a vibrant celebration of her multifaceted identity. Each creation is a tile in the mosaic of her life as an artist, educator, and devoted mother, illustrating unity through the diversity of her experiences.
